Information on the irrigation water tariff subsidy
In order to support farmers, by the Government’s decision, co-funding program of the irrigation water fee continues
Subsidy for unmetered users:
* Unmetered profile users, for the first irrigation cycle will pay GEL 116.50 per 1 hectare for annual crops and GEL 102 for perennials;
* The second, third and fourth irrigation cycles will be subsidized by the government (GEL 349.50 GEL for annual crops and GEL 306 for perennials);
* After four irrigation cycles, if additional irrigation is requested (5th and subsequent irrigations), the user will pay the service fee according to the applicable tariff.
Subsidy for metered users:
* Metered profile users will be charged according to the actual volume of the water used.
* The retail price of 1 m³ of water is GEL 0.0826, while the wholesale price for Water Users Organization is GEL 0.0354;
* The subsidy applies to the metered profile users (except Water Users Organization) who will be charged based on the meter readings: up to GEL 116.5 for annual crops and up to GEL 102 for perennials;
* If a metered profile user producing annual crops is charged more than GEL 116.5 based on the meter reading, the government will subsidize the amount above this threshold up to GEL 350. If the amount exceeds the maximum subsidy limit, the difference will be covered by the metered profile user.
* If a metered profile user producing perennials is charged more than GEL 102 based on the meter reading, the government will subsidize the amount above this threshold up to GEL 306. If the allocated subsidy exceeds the upper limit, the difference will be covered by the metered profile user;
* Fish ponds (fish farms) will be charged according to the volume of the water used and will pay 20% of the charged amount, but not more than GEL 300 per ha/per year.
Important information for the villages adjacent to the conflict line:
* In 2026, the government will fully subsidize all irrigation cycles for the farmers who are registered and receive irrigation services in the villages adjacent to the occupied territories (along the occupation line);
• As of December 31, 2025, all outstanding irrigation service fees incurred in the villages adjacent to the occupied territories (along the occupation line) will be fully written off for the farmers who are registered and receive irrigation services in these areas.
