Gigla Tamazashvili-Genera Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd participated in the Global Irrigation Summit held in New Delhi
The Global Irrigation Summit 2026, organized by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) was held in India on June 24–25. The main theme of this year high-level event was “Smart Irrigation Management.”
Gigla Tamazashvili- General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd participated in the summit held in New Delhi.
The high-level dialogue conducted within the global summit focused on the significance of application of innovative technologies for the transition from traditional irrigation schemes to high-tech models.
Leading specialists from around the world shared best practices and discussed irrigation schemes development and modernization strategies.
At the meeting special attention was paid to the concept- “From Infrastructure to Intelligence” (SCADA and automation). Experts held in-depth discussions on how integrated irrigation solutions, smart pumping projects and SCADA-type automated data monitoring systems improve the efficient management of water resources.
It’d be mentioned that Georgia became an official member of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) in 2018. Founded in 1950, the international organization unites 110 member countries and aims to increase global food and agricultural crop production through improving water and land productivity.
This type of summit provides an excellent platform for sharing international experience.
Along with Gigla Tamazashvili-General Director “Georgian Amelioration” ltd, Tamar Jaliashvili-Head of Donor Organizations Relations and International Projects Management Department also attended the summit.
