"Georgian Amelioration" LTD is starting rehabilitation works of the Ikalto inverted siphon (water pipe) on the main canal of the Zemo Alazani irrigation system. The infrastructure, existing on the canal, is significantly outdated and doesn’t meet modern operational requirements any more.

In the framework of the project, following works will be implemented: dismantling the inverted siphon pipeline and installing a new pipeline, cleaning the inlet and outlet headwalls from sedimentary, washing concrete surfaces with water jetting, lengthening metal columns, installing sewage holding grates, installing a staircase and railings leading to the platform.

The rehabilitation works of the Ikalto inverted siphon are planned to be completed in August 2027. After the completion of the project, water supply will be significantly improved to 1630 hectares of agricultural land area in Telavi Municipality.
