Gigla Tamazashvili-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd has inspected rehabilitation works carried out on Skra -Kareli main canal, in Kareli municipality.

Within the project, cleaning and rehabilitation works were carried out on up to 11-kilometer section of Skra-Kareli main canal. The canal was cleaned from sediment and thorny vegetation, damaged slabs were replaced with new ones and cast in-situ concrete and curbs were installed.

The rehabilitation works were carried out on Dzama inverted siphon, damaged sections were restored and various typical hydraulic structures were installed.

The project, with total cost of GEL 5.3 million has completed in May of the current year. As a result of the works carried out, technical condition of Skra–Kareli main canal has been significantly improved- discharge capacity has increased and irrigation water supply has improved on 3240 ha of agricultural land.
