Representatives of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd have met with the population of the Telavi and Akhmeta municipality villages: Tsianndali, Vanta, Khodasheni and Busheti.

During the meetings the farmers were provided with the detailed information on the irrigation service tariff, irrigation regimes, service conditions and the importance of effective planning of irrigation season.

It was noted that the government subsidizes irrigation tariffs to support farmers. In case of annual crops, water users pay only for the first irrigation operation, while the costs of the remaining three irrigation operations are covered by the government.  The same subsidy scheme applies to the perennial crops producers.

Furthermore, the meetings highlighted the importance of timely concluding water-use schedules and properly planning irrigation process that ensures efficient use of water resources.
