"Coordinated work with local authorities will promote the efficient irrigation water distribution" - "Georgian Amelioration" LTD
The General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” LTD, Gigla Tamazashvili, held a working meeting with the State Representative to Kvemo Kartli and the mayors of the municipalities.
Gigla Tamazashvili provided the meeting participants with detailed information about the new irrigation tariff set by the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC). As he said, supporting the agricultural sector remains one of the government's priorities. "The changed tariff will not burden farmers, because the state supports them. Changes have been made to the irrigation water tariff subsidy - previously the subsidy was focused towards "Georgian Amelioration", while with the changed approach, financial support will be focused directly to farmers. Under the new approach, farmers will not feel financial pressure, they will use irrigation water and will be able to cultivate their lands regularly" - said Gigla Tamazashvili.
The head of the company introduced the meeting participants the main goals of "Georgian Amelioration", ongoing and planned infrastructural projects, their implementation stages, and expected results. He also emphasized the importance of improving the services. He mentioned that before the beginning of the irrigation season, a service center will be opened in Dmanisi, where locals will be able to sign contracts on the spot. At the meeting, the speech was about the importance of local government involvement in the process of communicating with farmers and promptly concluding agreements related to amelioration services. As Gigla Tamazashvili said, the support of municipalities plays an important role in the organized start to the irrigation season. He mentioned that the coordinated work of the local government and the company will promote the effective distribution of water resources and the satisfaction of requirements of each farmer.
