Water reservoir shall be constructed in the River Tedzami gorge
New water reservoir shall be constructed in the River Tedzami gorge. As a result, 7 000 ha of agricultural land area shall be supplied with irrigation water. Presentation on the Environment Impact Assessment report of the abovementioned project was held in Kaspi municipality. The EIA report has been developed by “Gama Consulting” ltd. The group of specialists has studied background features of natural and social environment of the design territory. Representatives of the company provided local population with the detailed information on the project. Management of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd and representatives of local authority attended the meeting.
“By construction of Tedzami water reservoir, problem of irrigation water supply shall be solved for Shida Kartli population. Amelioration service shall be significantly improved for local farmers” -Archil Bukia-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd -said.
Irakli Mezurnishvili- Member of Parliament of Kaspi district spoke about the significance and necessity of the project, indicating that construction of water reservoir shall facilitate not only to the solution of irrigation water problem, but to creation of additional work places in the region as well.
Design volume of water reservoir shall amount to 12.0 mln.m3. Implementation of the project shall not cause flooding of settlement areas, agricultural land plots and monuments of cultural heritage.
The project for arrangement of water reservoir on the River Tedzami shall be implemented by “Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
