Rehabilitation of Kvemo Khandaki and Nichbisi irrigation scheme
Rehabilitation works of Kvemo Khandaki and Nichbisi pumping irrigation scheme are underway in Kaspi municipality.
The project is being implemented by “Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
Within the works, various types of pipelines shall be installed and water inlet wells shall be arranged.
As a result of rehabilitation, 800 ha of agricultural land area shall be supplied with irrigation water.
Total of 1 450 households of the villages Kvemo Khandaki and Nichbisi shall be able to use the land plots for agricultural purpose.
The rehabilitation works shall be completed in July of the current year. For the last 6 years, “Georgian Amelioration” ltd has implemented 50 rehabilitation projects of ameliorative infrastructure in Shida Kartli region.
As a result of the mentioned arrangements, irrigation has been aligned on 17 137 ha of land area. As of present, 6 rehabilitation projects are underway in the region.
After completion additional 1 075 ha of land area shall be irrigated in the villages of Shida Kartli region, while water supply shall be improved on 1 795 ha.
