Otar Danelia inspected current rehabilitation works on irrigation schemes
Within the framework of projects, initiated for the purpose to support agriculture in Kvemo Kartli region, Otar Danelia-Minister of Agriculture of Georgia got acquainted with ongoing works in-situ. Within the visit, Otar Danelia together with Levan Dvali-General Director of “United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia” inspected current rehabilitation works on Debeda canal irrigation scheme, in Marneuli municipality.
Rehabilitation of main, secondary and tertiary distribution canals and on-farm network and arrangement of side inlet headworks without dam on the Debeda River, is underway, within the framework of irrigation and drainage schemes modernization.
The project envisages arrangement of a new inlet structure and 587m long linking pipe; cleaning of Debeda, Kulari and Kirikhlo canals; rehabilitation of existing hydro-technical structures; arrangement of division boxes and impounding structures. After rehabilitation works total of 875ha of agricultural land area of three villages of Kvemo Kartli (Araplo, Kirokhlo and Kvemo Kulari) will be supplied with water, thereby benefitting 1800 households.
Rehabilitation works were initiated in 2014 and will be completed in 2015.
Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 1 976 999
United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implements rehabilitation works on 37 various items throughout Georgia, including 10 items in Kvemo Kartli.
