Irrigation Season opened in Kvemo Kartli
Otar Danelia-Minister of Agriculture of Georgia attended the opening ceremony of irrigation season in Kvemo Kartli region. Minister and General Director of “United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia” –Levan Dvali, symbolically opened the gate of Kichiki division box, on Gardabani irrigation scheme. United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia schedules to introduce the tradition of opening ceremony of irrigation season and its annual celebration in different regions of Georgia.
Local farmers attended the ceremony of releasing water in Gardabani irrigation scheme. Minister of Agriculture talked about the significance of proper operation of amelioration schemes for development of the region, with locals. Otar Danelia mentioned, that 1/3 of water covered area comes on Kvemo Kartli region.
“For the last years large-scale rehabilitation projects have been implemented on amelioration schemes. United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implements the largest-scale rehabilitation arrangements in Kvemo Kartli region, after completion of which 30 000 ha of agricultural land area will be water covered” –Otar Daneia mentioned.
“As of today, Ministry of Agriculture and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia carry out rehabilitation works on 34 items all over Georgia, within the improvement program of irrigation and drainage schemes. We will continue working in this direction, in order to maximally cover agricultural land areas all over the country” –Levan Dvali, General Director of United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia mentioned.
Deputy Ministers of Agriculture: Nodar Kereselidze, David Galegashvili, Iuri Nozadze, representatives of local authorities, donor organizations and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia attended the opening ceremony of irrigation season. Rehabilitation arrangements will be carried out on amelioration infrastructure in parallel with irrigation season.
