Debeda Canal irrigation scheme has been brought into operation


About 1800 households of another three villages of Kvemo Kartli region will get benefit from irrigation water, after rehabilitation works.  United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia has brought Debeda Canal irrigation scheme into operation, in Marneuli municipality. Vakhtang Gardapkhadze- Kvemo Kartli Region Director of United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia, Merab Topchishvili – Head of Marneuli Municipality Governance and local farmers, attended the event of water release.

Total cost of the project, that was initiated in 2014 and completed in April of the current year, amounts to GEL 1 976 999.  Within the project total of 14 km long main canal was cleaned, rehabilitation of on-farm network was carried out. As a result, additional 875 ha of agricultural land area has been water covered, thereby benefitting population of Marneuli municipality villages –Araplo, Kirokhlo and Kvemo Kulari.
