Water was released in Kvemo Alazani irrigation scheme
Within the framework of maintenance arrangements, “United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia” carries out annual repair works of headworks of Kvemo Alazani irrigation scheme. Works are usually carried out for the period of a month. Within the last month, water inlet chamber of headworks and adjacent area of main canal was cleaned; discharge gates, division boxes, and canallets were repaired; and pipes were replaced. Upon completion of the works water was released in the main canal of Kvemo Alazani irrigation scheme.
Total length of the scheme reaches 92 km, that covers around 8000 ha of agricultural land area of more than 20 villages of 4 municipalities of Kakheti region.
Irakli Siradze-Assets Management Director of Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia, Ilya Nersezashvili –Head of Kvemo Alazani Service Center and local farmers attended the ceremony of water release.
Current partial rehabilitation works on the last reach of Kvemo Alazani irrigation scheme will be completed in the nearest future. Via the aforementioned reach, irrigation water is supplied to the village Samtatskaro of Dedoplistskaro municipality.
