Rehabilitation of Narekvavi reservoir
Ministry of Agriculture and United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia continue rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage schemes, in parallel with irrigation season.
The Company implements rehabilitation-restoration of dam and emergency spillway of Narekvavi reservoir in Dusheti municipality, Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
The project envisages: restoration of damaged reaches of pressure slope of the dam; rehabilitation of peak of emergency spillway and landslide riverbed. Furthermore, rehabilitation of operation service building, access road to tail reach of the dam and mechanical part is scheduled.
By implementation of current rehabilitation works, water supply will be improved on 1 600 ha of agricultural land area of 7 villages of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region (Mchadijvari, Shuakhevi, Lamovani, Tsikhedavi, Tsitsamura, part of Dzalisi, part of Mukhrani), thereby benefitting about 3000 households.
Rehabilitation-restoration works of the dam and spillway of Narekvavi reservoir have been initiated in March of the current year and will be completed in 2016. Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 4 384 999.
As of today, United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia implements 3 projects in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, within the framework of modernization of irrigation and drainage schemes. Rehabilitation arrangements are being carried out on 34 items all over Georgia.
