Population of Ergneti will no longer face irrigation water problem

For the purpose to supply irrigation water to agricultural land plots of conflict affected families in the village Ergneti, Ministry of Agriculture and “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd implement rehabilitation of pumping station, with the assistance of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Within the framework of rehabilitation, the existing pumping aggregate was replaced, a single pressure pipeline was added, and a high-capacity transformer was installed. As a result, 150 ha of agricultural land area of the village Ergneti will be irrigated, thereby benefitting 200 households, about600-700 inhabitants.
Rehabilitation works of the pumping station, with total cost of GEL 260 000 will be completed by the end of June. 
Today, Levan Dvali-Director General of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd , Guy Houv –representative of Danish Refugees Council and representatives of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) have inspected progress of rehabilitation arrangements. 
The rehabilitation is being carried out on the basis of the memorandum signed between “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd and Danish Refugees Council. Danish Refugees Council has been implementing the project “Rebuilding Housing and Livelihoods of Returnees to Ergneti”, by financial support of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The project envisages improvement of housing and social-economic conditions of conflict affected families in the village Ergneti. 
Within the framework of the project housing and infrastructure required for livelihood will be restored, including community infrastructure, selected by the population –irrigation scheme of the village.  On the basis of the memorandum, “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd is carrying out rehabilitation works of the aforementioned infrastructure, by joint consolidation of funds of SDC and the Government of Georgia.
