Presentation of the Ergneti Project

Today held the conclusive event of the project “Recovery of livelihood and residential sources of in Ergneti (Shida Kartli) returned persons”.

With the financial support of the humanitarian aid program of The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the aim of the project held in village Ergneti in 2011-2015 years by the Danish Refugee Council was to improve the residential and social-economic conditions of the families affected by the conflict and to support the ground reintegration. Apart from recovery of the residential houses, project included the regulation of the infrastructure that is necessary for livelihood. Inhabitants named such as the community infrastructure - rural irrigation system. The rehabilitation works of the mentioned infrastructure was held by the LTD “Georgian Amelioration” of the Ministry of Agriculture with the joint consolidation of The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the financial resources of the Georgian Government.

The event was attended by the First Deputy of the State Minister of Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, who spoke about the importance of the project: “Today is the conclusive presentation, which was implemented by T The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and Danish Refugee Council. This project was being carried out in village Ergneti and served the return of the war-affected families and to support the ground reintegration. The priority of the State is to fix inhabitants to the place, to satisfy their needs and then, social and economical development of the region.” – declared Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

The conclusive presentation of the project was presented by the representative of Danish Refugee Council Guy Huvi, who expressed his gratitude to the LTD “Georgian Amelioration” for the works held in Ergneti.

About the rehabilitation of the Ergneti irrigation system, ongoing projects of the LTD “Georgian Amelioration” talked the General Director Levan Dvali.: “The project held in Ergneti was very successful. We are always ready for collaboration with the donor organizations, which is important to receive the highest possible effective results during the implementation of such projects.

The Georgian Government has invested about 200 million dollars over the last 3 years for the purpose of amelioration field rehabilitation. As a result, the water-ensured agricultural lands area in Georgia has doubled. Each project of the restoration of the irrigation system, supports the improvement of the social and economical conditions of the population” – said Levan Dvali.
