Mobile Amelioration
The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and LTD “Georgian Amelioration” are carrying out the rehabilitation works of irrigation and drainage systems. At the same time of capital rehabilitation projects, for this year’s irrigation season, the company has restored the method of irrigation – mobile amelioration. Mobile amelioration implies the use of portable pumping stations. After opening of mobile amelioration service, for nowadays, 200 HA land area of 120 customers is irrigated.
The Minister of Agriculture Otar Daneia and the General Director of LTD “Georgian Amelioration” Levan Dvali, attended the irrigation process with portable pumping stations.
“By using of portable mobile amelioration is has become possible to irrigate such agricultural land areas, which were not properly supplied because of lack of development of pumping infrastructure. Water supply by mobile pumping stations will occur also during lack of water and other unforeseen occurrences. In mentioned service for nowadays 10 portable pumping stations are included. For future, expansion of “mobile amelioration” service is planned.
In Kakheti Region from 2011 till nowadays, 19 amelioration infrastructure projects have been finished, irrigation on – 8140 HA, drainage – 925 HA, as a result, about 75 village population received benefit.
