Rehabilitation of Kvemo Samgori Irrigation System
Water supply will be improved on the 5000 ha of agricultural land area in Kakheti region. “Georgian Amelioration” LTD, under the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, is implementing the rehabilitation project of the left main canal of Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme. The trapezoid section of 14 km. stretch of the left main canal is being shotcreted. Different hydro power plants (gallery, inverted siphon, tunnel, bridge crossing and chute) are being rehabilitated. Arrangement of an operational road is planned.
General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” LTD Archil Bukia got acquainted with the ongoing rehabilitation works and met the local population. The population of 5 villages of Sagarejo Municipality (Ninotsminda, Sagarejo, Giorgitsminda, Tokhliauri, Manavi) will benefit from the rehabilitated irrigation system. The project with the total cost of Gel 4 823 000 will be completed in October, 2018 year.
At present 14 projects of amelioration infrastructure in Kakheti region and 50 rehabilitation projects throughout Georgia are being implemented.
