Georgia is joining ICID

Georgia is joining ICID (International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage). The International Executive Council (IEC), the highest decision-making body of ICID, approved Georgia’s membership application. All the necessary procedures, related to the above-mentioned, will be completed until the end of January 2018.
“Georgian Amelioration” LTD, as the ICID membership candidate, made a presentation on the Successes and Challenges of the Georgian Amelioration on the 23rd Congress of International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage. By becoming the ICID member, the Georgia will have access to the ICID unique platform bringing together all the stakeholders involved in irrigation and drainage of multi-disciplines and all scales, including the policy makers, experts, research institutions, non-governmental organizations and farmers. Different countries have a variety of institutional and organizational arrangements for irrigation and drainage development and management. Therefore, participating in ICID different working groups as well as in seminars and congresses, Georgia will have an opportunity to grasp the global perspective of such a large interdisciplinary areas of institutional and organizational aspects of irrigation and drainage necessary for sustainable agricultural management.
ICID (International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage) has been organizing a triennial event of International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage since 1951 and presently, ICID country membership network is spread over 76 countries across Africa, Americas, Asia and Oceania, and Europe, covering over 95% of the irrigated area of the world.
The ICID is a leading scientific, technical, international not-for-profit, non-governmental organization with a professional network of experts from across the world in the field of irrigation, drainage, and flood management.
