Cleaning works of Tskhenistskali-Abasha drainage massif are underway in Samegrelo
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is carrying out cleaning works on Tskhenistskali-Abasha drainage massif in Abasha municipality. Currently, the works are underway in the village of Zanati. The main canal with the length of 4.3 km is being cleaned from vegetation and sediment.
The operational measures undertaken on the drainage massif will facilitate to an unhindered flow of water in the canal that will result in the improved drainage services for 50 ha of arable land and household plots. This will contribute to the increase of agricultural crop yield and efficient use of land resources locally.
“Georgian Amelioration” has started the works by own resources in October and will complete them by December 20.
It’d be noted that as a result of the amelioration infrastructural projects implemented in Samegrelo within the years of 2012-2024, total of 12 400 hectares were drained, while excess water was removed on 10 170 ha of land area.
