Works are underway on Vani-Samtredia drainage massif in Imereti region

As part of the improvement of amelioration systems, "Georgian Amelioration" LTD of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is carrying out works on Vani-Samtredia drainage massif in Imereti region. Currently, the works are underway in the villages Mtisdziri and Gomi, where totally, more than 5 km of network is being cleaned.

As a result of the carried-out measures, the capacity of the canal and collectors will be increased, which will safe from flooding 250 hectares of agricultural land plots and nearby household land plots. The rehabilitation of Vani-Samtredia drainage massif aims to ensure proper functioning of the drainage infrastructure and increase agricultural potential.

As a result of amelioration infrastructural projects, implemented in Imereti region in 2012-2024, more than 12 000 hectares of agricultural land area have been water provided, irrigation water supply has been improved to 15 265 hectares of land, while the drained land area is 3 385 hectares.
