Cleaning works on irrigation canals are underway in the village of Chiauri, Lagodekhi municipality
Within irrigation schemes alignment, “Georgian Amelioration” ltd is carrying out works on Kviria canal in the village of Chiauri. Up to 3 km long section of the canal is being cleaned from trees and shrubs and sediment. The works carried out will facilitate to the increase of discharge capacity of the canal, thus ensuring the improvement of water supply for 250 ha of agricultural land area and 270 ha of fish farms.
It’d be noted that as a result of the amelioration infrastructural projects implemented in Kakheti region within the years of 2012-2024, additionally 20 140 hectares of agricultural land area have been water-supplied, irrigation water supply has been improved on 16 285 ha, while drainage covered 8725 hectares.
