Working meeting on Shida Kartli amelioration infrastructural issues was held

Gigla Tamazashvili-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd and Simon Guledani-State Representative in Shida Kartli region have discussed current situation on ameliorative infrastructure in the region, the issues related to the progress of the irrigation season, and existing needs at the working meeting. The projects implemented and ongoing have been assessed according to the  municipalities.

Gigla Tamazashvili focused on the involvement of local self-government representatives in amelioration works planning process and stated that the works would be scheduled  taking into account proposals and priorities received from the regions. The discussion referred to  the necessity of concluding an agreement on water use between the company and farmers.

“For using irrigation water in accordance with the rules set, it is necessary for farmers to sign an agreement on water use with Georgian Amelioration to effectively use, properly manage and distribute available water resources,” - Gigla Tamazashvili mentioned.

The meeting was held in Shida Kartli Regional Administration and attended by Commercial and Technical Directors of Georgian Amelioration and the Mayors of all four municipalities of Shida Kartli region.

It’d be noted that currently, in parallel with the irrigation season, 6 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure are underway in Shida Kartli region. As a result, water supply will be improved on 11,870 ha of agricultural land area.
