Restoration works are underway on the main channel of the Zemo Alazni irrigation system in the village Ikalto
“Georgian Amelioration” is carrying out restoration works on the main channel of the Zemo Alazni irrigation system in the village Ikalto of Telavi municipality, in Kakheti region.
Heavy rains in Kakheti damaged the concrete cover of the left pipe of the inverted siphon in May.
Currently, the works of land cultivation and removal of the ground from the damaged section are being carried out, in order to change the direction of the water flow in the Alazni River bed.
The works of water pumping from inverted siphon and dismantling of damaged concrete cover, are being carried out intensively.
It is planned to clean the left pipe of inverted siphon from alluvial soil and various types of waste and restore the damaged concrete cover with double reinforcement.
The works will be completed in the second half of June.
