Rehabilitation of Skra-Kareli irrigation scheme is underway in Shida Kartli
Damaged slabs on the 8.2 km long section of the main canal will be replaced with new ones in Kareli municipality; The canal will be lined with cast in-situ concrete; Curbs will be arranged. The design also envisages rehabilitation of Dzama inverted siphon, which includes cleaning of the inverted siphon from sedimentary soil, repair of the headwalls and arrangement of various typical hydraulic structures.
The works performed will facilitate to uninterrupted discharge of water in the canal. As a result, irrigation water supply will be improved on 3240 ha of agricultural land area.
The cost of the project amounts to more than GEL 5.2 million.
The rehabilitation works on the irrigation scheme will be completed in March 2025.
Aleksandre Mikiashvili - Technical Director of "Georgian Amelioration” ltd inspected the rehabilitation works on Skra-Kareli irrigation scheme and received information about irrigation water supply issues from the local farmers.
