March 22 is the Water Protection International Day!
In the framework of the celebration of the Water Resources Protection International Day, the representatives of the Kvemo Kartli regional office of "Georgian Amelioration" LTD and the pupils of the Daba Sioni (Borough Sioni) public school visited the Sioni reservoir. This reservoir provides water supply to the irrigation systems of Zemo Samgori and Kvemo Samgori.
The representatives of the regional office showed the pupils the hydraulic structure existing on the reservoir, and introduced the history of the reservoir and the specifics of work. The schoolchildren received information about modern irrigation methods, which promote the rational use of water resources and are especially important for their protection.
Since 1993, according to the decision of the UN General Assembly, the International Water Day has been celebrated worldwide. The celebration of the Water Protection International Day of aims to draw public attention to the issues of water resources management and rational use and to raise environmental awareness.
