Tamaz Mgebrishvili has visited amelioration infrastructure
Tamaz Mgebrishvili-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd has visited amelioration schemes in Sagarejo and Tetritskaro municipalities.
The General Director and the respective office representatives discussed the progress of the irrigation season and issues required for the proper operation of infrastructure facilities.
Proper irrigation infrastructure is one of the necessary prerequisites for agricultural production growth in the country.
In parallel with the irrigation season, Georgian Amelioration is carrying out amelioration infrastructural projects worth the cost of GEL 75.8 million throughout the country, after completion of which additional 6,600 hectares of agricultural land area will be regularly irrigated, irrigation water supply will be improved on more than 6,000 hectares and drainage works will be improved and cover 905 hectares.
During the last 10 years, ameliorated agricultural land area in the country has increased 3.5 times. The irrigated land area has increased from 45,000ha up to 165,000 ha, while drained land area has increased from 14,000ha up to 45,000ha.
