Work meeting with regard to amelioration issues of Samtskhe-Javakheti
Genadi Kerdzevadze-Acting General Director of "Georgian Amelioration” ltd and Besik Amiranashvili, State Trustee in Samtskhe-Javakheti region discussed at the work meeting the condition of amelioration schemes in the region, issues related to the irrigation season, and current needs.
The implemented, current and planned amelioration infrastructural projects according to the municipalities were evaluated.
Since 2012 present 35 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure with the cost of GEL 19.4 MLN have been implemented in the region. 131 km of irrigation canals were rehabilitated, 4 headworks and 11 pumping stations were repaired. As a result, the area to be regularly irrigated has increased up to 11,465 ha, while water supply has improved on up to 1,690 ha of agricultural land are.
The work meeting was held in Samtskhe-Javakheti regional administration, which was attended by the representatives of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd and the mayors of the municipalities of Samtskhe-Javakheti region.
