Rehabilitation works of the damaged pipeline of Tbisi-Kumisi irrigation system are underway

“Georgian Amelioration” LTD is carrying out restoration works of the damaged pipeline of Tbisi-Kumisi irrigation system in Tetritskaro municipality. As a result of landslides due to heavy rainfall, a significant part of water discharger of the Tbisi-Kumisi irrigation system was darted off in the village of Partskhisi, in Tetritskaro municipality.

First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili, together with the General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd, Tengiz Nasaridze, got acquainted with the working process locally.

In the framework of the restoration works, the operation road was arranged, the emergency pipeline dismantlement was implemented, and a drainage canal was made in the cave. At this stage, following works are underway - the cave is being filled with soil, and anti-corrosion works of existing pipeline are being carried out.

Restoration works are implemented taking into account the recommendations of geologists.

Due to the degree of damage, works are expected to be continued until June 25, after which irrigation water will start to flow into the system.
