Amelioration infrastructural projects with the cost of more than GEL 35 million will be launched in Kakheti region this year
Tengiz Nasaridze-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd has discussed in detail the needs regarding amelioration infrastructure identified in-situ at the working meeting with local government officials at Kakheti Regional Administration.
This year, amelioration infrastructural projects with the cost of more than GEL 35 million will be launched in Kakheti region, as a result of which additional 6 000 hectares of agricultural land area will be regularly irrigated while water supply will be improved on 10 000 hectares.
"We’ve held the working meeting with local government officials. According to municipalities, we’ve discussed in detail the needs that require to be addressed promptly. As you know, the majority of the population in Kakheti region is engaged in agricultural activities and respectively, the amelioration infrastructure is especially significant. At the meeting we’ve planned the projects to be implemented. Our cooperation will actively continue. With joint efforts, we’d be able to run the irrigation season without interruption. At this stage, several projects are being simultaneously implemented in Kakheti. Rehabilitation of Kvemo Alazani irrigation scheme in Gurjaani and Signagi municipalities and rehabilitation of distribution network of Zemo Alazani irrigation scheme in Akhmeta and Telavi municipalities are underway," -Tengiz Nasaridze -General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd mentioned.
In 2022, the following is scheduled on Zemo Alazani irrigation scheme in Akhmeta and Telavi municipalities: repair-rehabilitation of main canal section, arrangement of chute, repair of the closed pipeline on water distributary of the irrigation scheme, repair-rehabilitation of emergency section of the tunnel of the main canal and rehabilitation of road duct of the villages: Sakobiano, Bakilovani and Matani.
In Gurjaani and Signagi municipalities, the following works will be carried out on Kvemo Alazani irrigation scheme: rehabilitation of Samtatskaro spillway arranged on the main canal, Vejini over-chute and its regulation unit and Kalauri emergency spillway, rehabilitation of main canal distributaries.
The 2-kilometer section of the irrigation canal in the town of Lagodekhi will be lined with reinforced concrete.
In Dedoplistskaro municipality, rehabilitation of the distribution network of pumping irrigation scheme is planned in the village of Samtatskaro, works for repair of the damaged section of the pressure pipeline of Samtatskaro pumping station and modernization of Pirosmani pumping station will be carried out.
In Signagi municipality, works for arranging additional irrigation network on Dzveli Anaga pumping irrigation scheme will be carried out.
