Working meeting in Regional Administration of Kvemo Kartli
General Director of “Georgian Ameliortaion” Ltd. Tengiz Nasaridze, and State Representative in Kvemo Kartli Giorgi Dokhturishvili, at a working meeting discussed the current situation and challenges on the irrigation systems in the region.
The conversation focused on the already implemented, ongoing and planned rehabilitation projects on the main and distribution canals in the municipalities of the region. Attention was paid on the need of the close cooperation of the company with relevant services of local government.
"Demand for irrigation water is high in Kvemo Kartli. While planning rehabilitation activities, special attention is paid to this region. At the meeting we had an interesting discussion with the governor; We agreed on positions, planned future events. It should be noted that currently, 7 rehabilitation projects are underway in the region, with a total cost of 7 million GEL. As a result of the projects implementation, an additional 1,800 hectares will be irrigated in the region.", - said Tengiz Nasaridze.
The meeting, which was held at the Regional Administration of Kvemo Kartli, was attended by representatives of “Georgian Amelioration” LTD and the mayors of the region's municipalities.
Since 2012, 60 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure with the cost of 55.1 million GEL have been implemented in Kvemo Kartli region, as a result of which, an additional 31,600 hectares of agricultural land area is irrigated and water supply is improved to 25,000 hectares of land plots.
This year, 11 new projects of 16 million GEL are planned to be launched. As a result, up to 1,400 hectares of land plots will be irrigated, and water supply will be improved to more than 11,000 hectares of agricultural land area.
