Irrigation water supply will be improved on 1200 hectares of agricultural land area in Kakheti
"Georgian Amelioration" LTD is implementing rehabilitation of water distributaries of Kvemo Alazani irrigation system.
The value of the project is 2 115 000 GEL.
As a result of full implementation of large-scale works, water supply will be improved on 1200 hectares of agricultural land in 5 villages of Sighnaghi and Dedoplistskaro municipalities (Khirsa, Khornabuji, Kvemo Machkhaani, Anaga, Samtatskaro).
As part of the ongoing works, a canal of 13 km length will be cleaned and regulated; The section of 2.5 km will be covered with reinforced concrete; Distribution junctions and outlet gates will be arranged.
The General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” LTD, David Tsitlidze, together with the heads of Kakheti Regional Office, inspected the ongoing rehabilitation works on the irrigation system and met with local farmers.
"We are intensively rehabilitating reclamation systems. In Kakheti region, works are underway on one of the main distributors of the Kvemo Alazani irrigation system, which supplies water to the last sections of the main canal, where there was an emergency situation and the canal had limited discharge capacity. It is important that the rehabilitation of the canal will improve the irrigation water supply to 1,200 hectares of land plots” - said David Tsitlidze.
