Working meeting in Shida Kartli State Administration

The General Director of Georgian Amelioration, Davit Tsitlidze, held a working meeting with the State Representative to Shida Kartli region, Valerian Mchedlidze.

Davit Tsitlidze spoke about the perspectives for the development of land reclamation sector until 2030, and informed the audience a plan to be implemented in this regard.

"According to the 10-year program of construction / rehabilitation / modernization of irrigation infrastructure to be implemented in the regions of Georgia, by the end of 2030, the irrigated agricultural land area across the country will be more than 227,000 hectares, and the drained area - more than 74,000 hectares," - said David Tsitlidze.

At the meeting, attention was paid to the construction of Tedzami Reservoir and the importance of the project in Kaspi Municipality.

With the arrangement of the abovementioned reservoir, up to 5,000 hectares of agricultural land area will be irrigated regularly.

Due to global warming and changes of climate conditions, the correct and efficient use of water resources is becoming more and more actual.

Consequently, promoting smooth operation of reservoirs and irrigation infrastructure is a significant challenge.

As a result of already implemented and planned reclamation infrastructural projects in the region, the water supply of annual and perennial crops will be further improved. Therefore, the average yield per hectare will be significantly increased. It is becoming more and more relevant.
