Main canal of the Skra-Kareli irrigation scheme is being cleaned
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture is actively implementing ameliorative infrastructural projects for increasing water supplied and drained areas.
Repair works of Skra-Kareli irrigation scheme are underway in Shida Kartli.
A 2-kilometer section of main canal in Kareli is being cleaned from plant sediment and sludge.
The works carried out will ensure uninterrupted flow of water in the canal, improving supply of irrigation water to 1000 hectares of agricultural land area.
Population of the villages Kvemo Khvedureti, Zemo Khvedureti, Ghvlevi, Kvenaflavi, Kareli, Skra, Bethlehem and Rieti of Kareli and Gori municipalities will benefit from the restored irrigation canal.
The ongoing works under the operation program will be completed by the end of the month.
