Working meeting with regard to amelioration issues
David Tsitlidze-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd and Irakli Kadagishvili-State Representative in Kakheti region have held a working meeting related to the progress of irrigation season and the existing local challenges.
The meeting has discussed already implemented, ongoing and planned rehabilitation projects on the main and distribution canals of amelioration schemes.
The attention has been paid to the benefits under the anti-crisis plan, of rural and agricultural support, particularly amelioration, and the importance of promoting locals’ awareness.
By the decision of the Government of Georgia:
• Indebtedness to “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd., arose before 2020, will be fully written off to farmers;
• In 2020, all water users who use irrigation and drainage services on up to 10 hectares of land will be exempted from the amelioration service fee, which means a fee of up to 75 GEL per 1 hectare.
In this regard, thematic, informational-working meetings with the involvement of representatives of relevant agencies are also planned in the municipalities of the region.
