“Georgian Amelioration” LTD – 2019 year
In 2019 “Georgian Amelioration” LTD implemented 31 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure:
· Within the rehabilitation program, irrigation canal of 58 km and the drainage canal of 77 km were cleaned/improved;
· 2 head works were repaired;
· Within the framework of operation program, canals of 1 860 km were cleaned/improved and 2700 units of various types of hydraulic structures were repaired.
· In 2019, the rehabilitated pumping stations were put into operation, which provided irrigation water to the villages of Signagi, Gurjaani, Dedoplistskaro and Akhaltsikhe municipalities, where agricultural lands had not been irrigated for 20-30 years.
· In 2012-2019, 284 amelioration infrastructural projects were implemented throughout Georgia. As a result of implemented measures, the irrigated land area in the country was increased from 45 thousand hectares (2012) to 130 (2019), while drained agricultural land was increased from 14 thousand hectares (2012) to 39 thousand hectares.
