Rehabilitation of Zemo Alazani irrigation scheme headworks implemented
Georgian Amelioration has completed rehabilitation of headworks of Zemo Alazani Irrigation scheme in Akhmeta municipality.
Rehabilitation has been carried out on upstream and downstream regulation walls of the headworks;
headworks inlet chamber and flutes have been repaired; damaged headworks lateral and interim piers have been strengthened with reinforced concrete;
gates management has been equipped with remote management systems and is controlled via video cameras, enabling response and regulation of water supply in minimum time period during heavy rainfall. Furthermore, embankment protection works have been performed; 255 m long gabion has been installed. The aforementioned arrangements ensure protection of adjacent territory from flooding.
Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 1 125 000.
