20 years later Samtatskaro and Pirosmani land parcels were irrigated
After 20-year interval Samtatskaro and Pirosmani land parcels were irrigated. “Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture implemented rehabilitation of Samtatskaro-Pirosmani pumping irrigation schemes in Kakheti.
Within the project: new pumping stations were constructed; 16km long main canal and respective hydraulic structures were rehabilitated; canals were totally cleaned from bushes and ground sediment; damaged reinforced-concrete slabs were replaced by cast in-situ armoured concrete; repair works were carried out on bridges, flumes and intake boxes.
As a result of the works carried out, more than 1000 ha of agricultural land area of the villages Pirosmani and Samtatskaro shall be irrigated.
David Tsitlidze-General Director of Georgian Amelioration visited the repaired irrigation scheme in Dedoplistskaro municipality and met with the local population.
