Work meeting with State Trustee in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti
George Khubua-Operation Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd, Aleksandre Motserelia -State Trustee in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and representatives of local authorities in Poti discussed the existing needs of Poti and future projects, as well as visited the sites where implementation of the works is scheduled. The River Rioni canal passing by the town shall be cleaned from silt and sediment; Repair works shall be carried out on the embankment protection structure.
The canal shall discharge 400 m3/s that is important for hydro-dynamic regime of the district, stabilization of the Black Sea riparian line and floods prevention.
Furthermore the works envisage cleaning of the River Rioni bottom from the 7th km elevation up to the sea and currently silted left branch at the Sea confluence.
Currently the work is underway for the development of detailed engineering design for rehabilitation of the Rioni River canal passing by the Town of Poti.
