Embankment protection works in Abasha municipality

“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture completed embankment protection works on the Abasha River.

Within the project various type of infrastructural activities have been carried out: the riverbed has been cleaned from rocks and sediment, dyke against flooding, overpasses and embankment protection structures have been installed.

The works carried out in administrative units of the villages Zanati, Sepieti and Norio shall protect up to 380 ha of agricultural land area from flooding during heavy rainfall. 

Otar Shamugia-General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd together with Levan Makalatia, Mayer of Abasha municipality has inspected the completed works for embankment protection on the Abasha River. 

The project with total cost of GEL 520 000 has been carried out by Georgian Amelioration on own resources.  

Within 2012-2019 Georgian Amelioration has implemented total of 35 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.  As a result drained land area has been increased by 10 500 ha, while works for removal of excess water have been carried out on 6 000 ha of land area.
