Rehabilitation of drainage schemes in Khobi district

Construction of bridges over main canals of rehabilitated drainage schemes in the villages of Khobi municipality is underway.

Otar Danelia-Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, along with Levan Shonia –Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region and General Director of Georgian Amelioration have got familiar with ongoing construction works and met with local population of the village Chaladidi, Khobi municipality.

Construction of bridges is in progress on 8, 2 km long section of main canal of Chaladidi drainage scheme. Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 960 000.  From the end of the year, residents of the villages Chaladidi and Patara Poti will have opportunity to use total of 37 linking bridges, out of which 24  are motor bridges.

Since 2012, drainage canals with total length of 412 km have been rehabilitated in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Consequently, drained agricultural land area has been increased up to 17 000 ha in the region.
