The first phase of Iakublo Reservoir rehabilitation has been finished
In Dmanisi and Bolnisi Municipalities, on 3000 ha agricultural land area of 48 villages, water supply mode has been improved. “Georgian Amelioration” LTD of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia has finished the first phase of Iakublo Reservoir rehabilitation. In recent years, on the slope of dam and surrounding area, an increase of the filtration centers has been noticeable, which threats to the dam stability and impeded the functioning of the reservoir at full capacity. The works of 600 000 Georgian Lari made the secure operation of the reservoir possible.
From 2012 till today, 21 rehabilitation projects of the amelioration infrastructure have been implemented in Kvemo Kartli Region. As a result, irrigated area in the region has increased from 24 500 ha to 44 000 ha.
