Otar Shamugia met with the World Bank mission representatives
The World Bank mission is visiting Georgia within December 3-7, to carry out monitoring of the works scheduled within the “Irrigation and Land Market Development project”.
Within the visit, Wilfried Hundertmark –“Irrigation and Land Market Development Project” Leader, Deputy Project Leader -Rufiz Chirak-Zade and the World Bank local representatives and experts met with Otar Shamugia –General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd.
The parties spoke about the World Bank funded irrigation scheme rehabilitation project and Action Plan of the “Irrigation Strategy for Georgia 2017-2025”.
Law of Georgia on Water Users’ Organizations, state support programs for farmers and arrangements required for creation of Water Users’ Organization were discussed at the meeting. Furthermore, the significance of the arrangement of irrigation water reservoirs and modernization of irrigation schemes for the country was highlighted at the meeting.
The meeting also included discussions on funding of Feasibility Study for arrangement of Tedzami Water Reservoir on the River Tedzami, at the village of Chachubeti, in Kaspi municipality, as well as Preliminary Feasibility Study for 25 irrigation schemes and water tariff calculations ( including for technical water and hydro power plants).
The World Bank mission representatives expressed willingness to provide certain support to the country with this regard and discuss the issue of funding the aforementioned projects.
Tengiz Lakirbaia-Technical Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd, David Tetunashvili –Financial Director and other representatives of the company management attended the meeting.
