Rehabilitation of Saltvisi irrigation system is under way
In Shida Kartly rehabilitation of Saltvisi irrigation system is under way.
Within the framework of the project, the alternative, and trapezoidal and rectangular sections of Dzlevisjvari of the main canal will be fully covered with monolithic reinforced concrete; hydro power plants will be arranged. Also, the rehabilitation of distribution canals is provided.
The rehabilitation works will provide irrigation on 1215 hectares of agricultural land.
The Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture - Giorgi Khanishvili, General Director of "Georgian Amelioration" LTD - Otar Shamugia, Deputy Governor of Shida Kartli - Simon Guledani and majoritarian Member of Parliament of Kareli - Giorgi Totladze got acquainted with the ongoing works and met with the local population.
The residents of the villages of Pkhvenisi, Kvemo Khviti, Shindisi, Kelktseuli, Brety Farm, Dzlevijvari and Dirbi from Gori and Kareli municipalities will benefit from the restored system.
Rehabilitated canals will supply water to distribution canal G-2 of Saltvisi irrigation system, which will improve water supply and 2928 hectares of land plots will be irrigated by gravity flow.
The rehabilitation works started at the end of September of the current year and will be completed in July 2019.
At the same time, preparation of detailed design is started on rehabilitation of G-2 distribution canal, the deadline for completion of which is April 2019, and rehabilitation works are planned in 2019-2020.
