Works for arranging drainage canal completed in the village Menji

“Georgian Amelioration” ltd has completed works to arrange drainage canal and drain wetland territory in the village Menji, Senaki municipality.
Within the project, up to 2500 m long drainage canal has been excavated. Drainage works have been carried out on the territory which had been bogged for 4 decades. The depth reached 1,5-2 m. The aforementioned  territory will be used for agricultural purpose in the future.
As a result of the works undertaken drainage service has been restored on 10 ha of agricultural land area of the village Menji.
George Khubua- Director of West Georgia Regional Office of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd has inspected the works undertaken and met with the local population.
In 2013-2017 within rehabilitation-technical maintenance arrangements, up to 896 km long drainage canal was cleaned, 218 units of different type hydraulic structures, 1 headworks and 1 pumping station were repaired in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.
As of today, 8 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure are in progress in the region that will result in the increase of the drained area by 2198 ha.
