First stage of rehabilitation of Ozhio distribution canal completed
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Agriculture has completed I stage of rehabilitation project of Ozhio distribution canal of Zemo Alazani irrigation scheme in Akhmeta municipality.
Within the project up to 4 km buried irrigation network has been arranged; Works for arranging furrows are underway, enabling farmers to deliver water directly to their plots.
Archil Bukia –General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd has inspected the rehabilitated irrigation canal and met with local population.
As a result of the works undertaken irrigation water has been supplied to150 ha of agricultural land area of the villages Ozhio and Khorkheli. After implementation of the second stage of the project additional 150 ha will be water supplied in the municipality.
Since 2012, 45 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure have been implemented in Kakheti region. Consequently, water supplied agricultural land area has increased up to 15 400 ha.
