Rehabilitation on Apkhanauri irrigation scheme
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Agriculture has implemented rehabilitation project of Apkhanauri irrigation scheme, in Bagdati municipality.
Within the project, 5 km long main canal has been rehabilitated; culverts and water regulation structures have been arranged; linking and distribution canals with total length of 3,2 km have been cleaned. Consequently, total of 250 ha of agricultural land area of the villages Persati and Vartsikhe have been supplied with irrigation water.
Since 2012, 17 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure have been implemented in Imereti region. As a result, water supplied agricultural land area has increased up to 13 765 ha, while drained area reached 4 450 ha.
