Rehabilitation of drainage scheme in Samegrelo
“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Agriculture has completed the rehabilitation of 50 km long section of Akhalsopeli drainage scheme on Tsiva-Tekhura interfluvial massif, in Senaki municipality. Within the project new culverts have been installed, overcrossing bridges have been repaired, water collecting canals have been cleaned from sediment. Consequently drainage service has been restored on 691 ha of agricultural land area of the village Akhalsopeli. The aforementioned schemes hasn’t been rehabilitated for more than two decades.
Since 2012 up to date 26 rehabilitation projects of amelioration infrastructure have been implemented in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Up to 500 km long drainage canal has been cleaned and arranged. Drained agricultural land area has increased up to 19 000 ha in the region.
