World Bank mission visited the rehabilitated Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme

Rehabilitation of Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme has been completed. Shotcreting of 24 km long trapezoidal section reach of right main canal has been carried out.

Various hydraulic works have been repaired. As a result of the project implemented, supply of irrigation water has been improved on 9500 ha of agricultural land area of Sagarejo municipality.
 
Archil Bukia- General Director of “Georgian Amelioration” ltd and Mercy Tembon – World Bank South Caucasus Regional Director visited the rehabilitated scheme and met with the local farmers.  They also inspected the areas irrigated from the rehabilitated scheme, including almond plantation cultivated on 1300 ha of land area, where drip irrigation systems have been installed.
 
The rehabilitation of the irrigation scheme has been implemented within the World Bank funded “Irrigation and Land Market Development” project.

Manager of the “Irrigation and Land Market Development” project, the World Bank local representatives and experts have also been in Kakheti
