Rehabilitation of Khurvaleti Pumping Station
Amelioration infrastructural works are ongoing in the village of Khurvaleti, in Gori municipality. Giorgi Chkheidze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Archil Bukia, Director General of “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd were present at the site.
Within the Project, implemented by “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd, the rehabilitation works were held for Khurvaleti pumping station, the station transformer was replaced, the electro-mechanical equipment was rearranged, the damaged sections of the pressure pipeline were replaced.
Rehabilitation of the pumping station has already filled up with 900 thousand m3 water reservoir, another 700 thousand m3 irrigation water will be added to the water reservoir at the beginning of irrigation season. As a result of the first phase of implementation, 600 hectares of agricultural land in Gori and Kaspi municipalities regularly will be irrigated.
After full implementation of rehabilitation works water-covered area will increas to 1500 ha.
