Meeting with representatives of the World Bank
Today, Levan Dvali- Director of United Amelioration Systems Company of Georgia has met with Peter Goodman –the World Bank Team Leader for Irrigation and Land Market Development Project. The parties discussed the project to be implemented by the WB funding that envisages irrigation and land market development in Georgia. The parties highlighted the importance of the project and irrigation generally, for agricultural development.
Loan agreement for the project will be signed by the World Bank and Ministry of Finance on November 13 of the current year,
On the first stage, for arrangement of irrigation schemes, the project which will be implemented in three regions of Georgia, envisages:
· Rehabilitation of headworks, electric-mechanical devices and right main canal of Kvemo Samgori irrigation scheme, in Sagarejo municipality;
· Restoration of instrumental-monitoring system of Algeti reservoir dam and hydro-technical structures of Tbisi-Kumisi irrigation scheme; rehabilitation of Khaishi and Marabda linking pipes (I stage), in Tetritskaro municipality;
· Rehabilitation of main, secondary and tertiary distribution canals and on-farm network of Zeda Ru irrigation scheme, in Kareli municipality.
The meeting was introductory. Levan Dvali presented the Strategy and Vision of the company to the guests.
